Lacombe Research Centre

Milker (Dairy)
Duties include: milking herd, equipment sanitation, cleaning of milking parlour, feeding under direction of Herdsperson or Owner, care of young stock, barn cleaning (tractor), heat detection, record keeping, disorder identification, machine operation. If the position is exclusively milking work is often divided into a morning and evening shift. The Milker’s day may average between 5 and 10 hours a day depending on herd size, ability and farm.
