FAQ: How can I get this job?

So, you’ve been looking through our Career Profile listings and you’ve found something that interests you. What do you do next? We get asked by lots of people if we can connect them with someone who will hire them. Unfortunately, we don’t do that. Think of Soil to Sky not as a job bank, but instead like your own personal web career councilor. And if this site has already helped you figure out what you might want to do, now is the time to dig a little deeper into our directory. Start by asking yourself a few questions:

1) Are there any jobs in this field? There is a good chance the answer is yes, of course. But why not browse through our industry portal, poke around some job banks, or do a search to see who might potentially be an employer. The “Similar Resources” list is a good place to start if you’re not too sure where to hone your efforts. Many of categories and keyword links will take you to lists of information you might not have considered looking at.

2) Do I have the right education to get this job? Many of our profiles outline what you need to know to get hired, so if you’ve got those skills, great… If you don’t, you might want to browse through our education portal to look at some local options for a certification, diploma, or degree.

3) Can I go to work immediately? We get lots of requests from people asking if we can help find them a job. The truth is that we’re just a couple of folks in a little Alberta organization running an information page to help you narrow your search if you happen to be interested in a career in our industry. Running a job bank is a lot of work, and there are plenty of sites that do a great job collecting resumes, updating job listings, and connecting employers with employees. If you are at that stage of your career search, check out the job banks portal for a ton of options. But before you go, stroll through our career building portal for some advice on resumes, interviewing, moving, immigrating, and staying sane in your job.

Good luck!
